Create Thumbnails

This batch operation is useful for creating small copies of the images and can be started by choosing Main Menu > Batch > Resize...

First, the source and destination locations have to be configured.

If the Overwrite existing files option is selected, the existing files are updated in the destination location, otherwise only new files are written.

There is no check for duplicate images and all files from the source location are processed.

When the Resize operation is used, ImageRanger will read all images recursively from a given folder, scale the image resolution, and copy the files into the new location.  The original folder hierarchy is maintained in the destination location.

The aspect ratio of input images is always maintained.

The Maximum output resolution is used to limit the width or height of the output image, whichever value is greater.

The resulting file size depends not only on image resolution but also on the compression parameter of the JPEG encoding. This compression setting is configurable in the range of 0 to 100.

When "Write metadata" switch is checked, the original meta information will be copied without changes to the output file. No changes are made to EXIF, IPTC, XMP properties related to image resolution.
