General Settings

 
The program options dialog is available under main menu item Settings... -> Options.
 
The General settings tab defines options for the basic functions.

Default filter to show files
 
ImageRanger can be configured to show only image/video files or it may also show all files, including documents, music, etc.
 
 
Number of destination folders
 
The destination folders are shown in the contextual menu when you right click on the file and select Copy to... (or Move to...).
Once the new destination folder is used, the entire list is updated and the oldest shortcut is replaced with a new one.
 
Skip or show delete confirmation dialog
 
It is recommended to enable 'Show delete confirmation' in order to minimize number of mistakenly deleted files.
 
Enable movable panels
 
For users with multiple monitors this option when enabled allows to move certain windows freely, even to a different screen. This function can be useful for example if you want to have a bigger image preview area and bigger file infromation window on a separate screen.
 
Hide sidecar files
 
Sidecar files (.xmp) are special files which store image metadata such as capture time and other capture settings separately from the image file.
ImageRanger also uses these files to store rating / keywords and other information for non-image files.
For example, it is possible to set a rating for a regular text file. In this case, the sidecar file is created and used to store the user assigned rating.
By default the sidecar files are not displayed.
 
Enable logging
 
Log file is useful when program crashes or stops working properly. Checking last records in the log file will help to understand the issue or find a corrupted file which causing a crash.
When enabled it is possible to find log files at the following locations:
MacOS:
/Users/YOUR_USERNAME/Library/Preferences/imageranger/imageranger.log
 
Windows:
C:\Users\YOUR_USERNAME\AppData\Local\ImageRanger\imageranger.log
