Search Settings

Search settings define parameters of the face recognition and file indexing options.

Search Settings

Face detection sensitivity

When changing the face detection setting to "More Faces", the software may be able to detect faces in more complex pictures with many smaller faces.
However, there might also be more "false positive" mistakes of the automatic face detection algorithm.
The speed of indexing may be increased when "Less Faces" option is configured.

Disable face detection

When face detection is disabled, only manual face tagging is possible but the speed of indexing is much faster.

Face Recognition

In the search settings dialog you can configure different face matching algorithms.
Select Broad Match to get more results when running face search.
Select Narrow Match to get more reliable face matches.

Reset face recognition...

Resetting face recognition will clear all person data and face samples stored internally in the application settings.
The original image files, containing person names in the metadata (EXIF) are not affected.
Once the image files are indexed again, the face recognition engine will pickup person names from the manually tagged files.

Duplicates search sensitivity

ImageRanger can find duplicate images by matching the visual content of the image.
In some situations it is also convenient to find all similar images. For example, duplicates which have some minor differences, such as different resolution or brightness, etc.
The Strict Match (default mode) allows to find less duplicate images which are more likely to be the same.
Moderate and Broad Match modes are introduced to allow the software to find more similar images. The processing speed for indexing files is decreased when Moderate or Broad match modes are selected.
